India and Tajikistan have nurtured warm and strong relations through the ages. Tajikistan is in India’s extended neighborhood, and is a geo-politically significant country. The economic relationship between India and Tajikstan was elevated to “Strategic Partnership in 2012 making Tajikistan third Central Asian country to sign such agreement with India. Bilateral trade between India and Tajikistan has risen from 20.44 million USD in 2016-17 to 23.97 million USD in 2017-18. Though the trade volume between two countries is not huge, there are number of articles which consistently exist in export from India to Tajikistan.

They include pharmaceutical products (drugs), tea, coffee, paper and paperboard, paper pulp, instruments (measuring, precision, medical etc).As for import from Tajikistan, most traded articles are aluminum and its products, metal slags (ashes), cotton.

The potential areas which the Indian exporters can target are textile market of Tajikistan (from stock materials up to RMG) and Indian tea and coffee. The country also has vast opportunity for machinery items along with publishing equipment and materials (paper, paint etc) used in publishing industry, Indian IT solutions .

It is a great opportunity for the members, being a virgin market and to explore ways to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, we are organizing a Meeting on Trade, Business, Investment & Commerce Opportunities in Tajikistan.
