Prof Dr Nisha Taneja

Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER)

Dr. Nisha Taneja has been a Professor at Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) since 2008. She has been engaged in policy-oriented research for more than 30 years at ICRIER.

She has been focusing on researching India’s international economic policy and guiding reforms in trade, trade facilitation, transport, and logistics. She has extensive experience working on regional trade in South Asia and East Asia on issues related to tariffs, sensitive lists, services, investment, non-tariff measures, and trade and transport facilitation. Policy recommendations emanating from the studies have been adopted by Governments in India and South Asia. She has served on various committees set up by the Government of India, and was appointed advisor to the Government of Nepal on transshipment.

She has also been an international consultant with the World Bank and Asian Development Bank on trade, non-tariff barriers, supply chain analysis, transport, logistics and transit. Recently, she worked as Lead International Consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and SAARC Agriculture Centre.

She has led numerous research teams comprising national and international consultants in South and South-East Asia. She has several publications to her credit and has participated in several conferences organized by Governments, think tanks and industry bodies in India and abroad.
