Mr Keshar Bahadur Bhandari

Secretary General, Nepal Institute for Strategic Studies(NISS)

Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Keshar Bahadur Bhandari, Defense & Security Analyst, is a Secretary of Nepal Institute for Strategic Studies, psc; a is the ‘Colonel Commandant’ of an Engineers’ Battalion. He has long and distinguished career with the Nepal Army, spanning over 33 years. He has commanded Infantry Brigade in the Central Development Region of Nepal; headed the R & D division of National Security Council Secretariat; worked as deputy director of Plan & Policy of Army HQ and has produced several high level policy documents on national security and national interest. He has served as the Military Secretary and the Engineers Director; and worked as the engineers’ advisor to the army.

Brig Gen. Bhandari has served as the United Nations Military Advisor in Afghanistan & Pakistan and led the Military Advisory Unit of Pakistan. He has also served the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon. He also has two advanced university degrees: “Masters Degree in Management Studies” form Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and “Masters Degree in Sociology” from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He also has a degree in ‘Civil Engineering’ from the College of Military Engineering, Pune, India.
