Media plays a crucial role in shaping the domestic and foreign policies of the country. It also plays a role in influencing public and foreign policy. BIMSTEC as a region is considered as a bridge between South Asia and South-East Asia. With the world reeling with COVID-19 pandemic, the media can play a role in sharing good practices across the region. The sharing of information and space with each other can be way forward for BIMSTEC nations.

The media is also fighting a crisis of misinformation during this pandemic. The circulation of fake news and the problems created by it is another challenge which the media is facing in this region.

Keeping these in mind the Webinar aims to bring the journalist from all countries of BIMSTEC and discuss the active role which the media can play in the fight against this pandemic. It will also discuss the problem of fake news and ways it is been countered in different countries of the region.
