Novel Coronavirus pandemic has caused a historic health, economic and social crisis. Away from the devastating human toll, the global economy is facing severe economic damage with the lockdowns, travel restrictions and the disruptions in trade and global supply chains. With no vaccine and no clear exist strategy for lockdowns, uncertainty prevails about the precise economic impact and expected recovery. Broadly, crisis is likely to have a major impact on global value chains and economic globalization, and it could bring about a re-thinking of the social contract and the role of the state in the major economies. Saving lives and livelihood should go on hand-in- hand, so proactive global policy response to deal with COVID-19 is imperative both for safeguarding the lives and economic recovery.

In this webinar, Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) invites economic experts from around the world to explain the global economic impact during and post-COVID-19 era and to offer the immediate and long-term policy options to mitigate the economic fallout as well as to spur the economic recovery.
