
Dr. Nihar R Nayak
Dr Nihar R. Nayak is a Research Fellow at IDSA, New Delhi, specialising in Geo-political developments in the Himalayan region, climate change impacts in the Himalayas, energy, and political violence (Maoist conflict) in South Asia.
He holds a PhD in International Politics from JNU, New Delhi. Dr. Nayak was a Visiting Fellow at PRIO, Oslo, in 2006 and 2007, and he completed a particular course on Peace Research at the International Summer School of Oslo University in 2007. In 2011, he served as Visiting Faculty at the Center for the Study of Nepal, Faculty of Social Science, Banaras Hindu University. Additionally, he was a Guest Faculty member at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, from September 2006 to June 2011.
Dr. Nayak has published nationally and internationally. His first book, Strategic Himalayas: Republican Nepal and External Powers, was published in 2014. In September 2021, he published a monograph titled “Political Changes in Nepal and Bhutan: Emerging Trends in Foreign Policy in the Post-2008 Period,” published by MP-IDSA. His second book, “Nepal, The Making of an Inclusive Constitution: Demands, Debates, Dissents”, will be published in January 2025.
